The Marathon.

It has been a little over a week since the Marathon, and it is still hard for me to fully comprehend that I did it! If you would of asked me even a year ago, if I would ever do a Marathon my answer to you would of been; probably not. Here is my recap of Marathon weekend! :]

Me and my husband got to Pittsburgh Saturday afternoon and since it was to early to check in to our hotel, we stopped at the Expo first. We picked up my bib, shirt and bag and looked around a bit. After getting checked in to our hotel we went to Church Brew Works to eat, it was really good and the place itself was really awesome! I would definitely recommend trying it if you are in Pittsburgh.

That evening I got to meet up with my friend Heidi at the hotel - it was great seeing her (but it made the whole fact that I was running a Marathon the next day more real). I really wasn't nervous Saturday but as the day went on, it really started to hit me!

I woke up Sunday morning at about 5:15, I had everything set out so it was easy to get ready. I remember being really calm that morning (this kind of scared me) - I guess I just knew I was ready and there was no turning back.

Right Before Leaving for the Marathon.

The night before me and Heidi planned on meeting each other that morning to walk to our corrals. Trying to find where your corral is can be so confusing and overwhelming, especially since there is a time limit and people are going every which way. We ended up finding corral B with no problem but, realized we had to go further down to get to C and D.

Me and Heidi before heading to our Corrals.

After saying goodbye to Heidi and my Husband - I headed into my corral and pretty much just stayed near the 9:30min/mile pacer before the run started. I was nervous that I would have trouble keeping a slow but decent pace at the beginning, since last year it was pretty congested the first 2 miles. This year I had no problems, I stayed to the right most of the time and passed when I needed to.

The first 12 miles were pretty easy and I made sure I got water at each fluid stop. Mile 12 is when the Marathoners start to split from the Half Marathoners - and I remember being (a little) jealous of the Half Marathoners when the announcer said to them - "you are almost done"! Once we split I was in unknown territory (I did the Half last year).

The start of mile 12 was a pretty big hill, to be honest a lot of the Marathon course was pretty hilly. It also started to get pretty hot after mile 14, which thankfully the volunteers were handing out towels soaked in ice water and they had the fire hydrants spraying water - which I took advantage of that! My biggest highlight on the course was seeing the Greyhounds from the rescue, they were really cute and were watching us all run by (they also had really cute signs).

Around mile 17 I was at a water station (still feeling pretty good) and by chance my friend Todd found me. What are the chances of finding someone you know during such a large Marathon?! - I didn't realize then but I was very lucky I found him, because I needed that support those last few miles.

I was feeling okay till about mile 22/23 then things started to go downhill pretty fast! I started getting tired and hot - I was running but honestly, I think I could of walked faster. I also got a nasty blister on my toe, which popped and hurt SO bad (it also did something to my toenail)! I started running with a limp and it didn't help that those last few miles of the course, parts are downhill. My toes already hurt, and slamming them against the end of my shoe didn't help.

Me and Todd kept talking which helped keep my mind occupied and I would say to him I am going to run to that stoplight and then walk and then run to that sign (I think I would of been okay if it wasn't for the excruciating pain in my foot). Everyone who was around me looked like they were feeling like crap too - I guess we all hit the "wall" together! It was getting harder to stop and walk at water stations too, my legs would lock up/cramp and it was hard to get moving again, so I tried not to walk anymore.

Once we hit that last mile, I was beyond done - so I picked up the pace. I am not sure what got into me but nothing hurt, I had energy I didn't know I had - my adrenaline was through the roof! I did the last mile at around an 8:40 pace - even Todd was trying to keep up with me.

Me and Todd around Mile 25.

Seeing the finish line was the most amazing thing ever - and crossing it and knowing I just completed a Marathon felt great!! I finished in 4:51:34 - which was better then I expected (I figured a little over 5 hours). After finding my Husband, we walked back to the hotel (which hurt really bad) - I even had a police officer ask if I was okay haha!

After running I said I would never run another Marathon - after a few days I realized I probably will run another one, someday! It was an amazing experience that for me was every emotion you can think of - 26.2 miles is no joke and I have a new respect for those who run Marathons. Honestly though, I will probably stick with the 5k's, 10k's and Half's for now! :]

Final Run.

I can't believe I am at this point already but, I just did my final training run before the Marathon. This has been quite the journey - moments of it have been awesome, some not so much. I have learned so much about myself, that I really can do anything I set my mind too.

When I first started getting a base and training back in November/December running 10 miles was tiring and quite the challenge. I had just come back to running from an injury I suffered at a Half in October. It was very overwhelming in the beginning, lots of weekday running (which I wasn't used to) and a lot of self discipline.

Honestly, if it wasn't for Joe helping me I don't know if I would be at the point I am now. Him and his wife have had so much faith in me and you can tell they really want me to succeed. I appreciate Joe running with me through blizzards, ice and snow - it wasn't easy at times! I know I might not be where I originally wanted to be but I know I will finish and I think that is all that matters.

Training for a Marathon is definitely no joke, especially winter training. It was not fun running in the snow and ice, not going to lie. I have had a lot of setbacks, sick kids, me being sick and personal issues - it is something that takes a lot of your time and energy. I know it is going to be 100% worth it in the end but, I do think I am going to stick with my 5k's, 10k's and Half's at least until the kids get older.

I plan on doing a blog post Saturday night before the Marathon. I just want to say Thank You to everyone who has been following my blog and who has supported me along the way - I appreciate it so much!!

Less than a week away...

I just noticed I haven't done a blog post in awhile - I guess I am slacking a bit! Hard to believe that in less than a week is the Marathon, when I started training back in November, I really felt like it was forever away.

Today I did my last long run before the Marathon, and my longest mileage to date; 20 miles! I actually didn't feel to bad running that distance. I did most of it solo - about 15 1/2 miles of it. It wasn't to bad since I listened to music - it also helped that my friend Jared ran the final 4 1/2 miles with me. I am so glad he was able to come, it helped me mentally and it made those last miles easier since we talked through them.

I didn't have a goal going in to running these 20 miles, just to finish mostly. I was pretty happy when I finished and realized my pace wasn't to bad and neither was my time. I also dominated my last mile and ran it the fastest of all the miles (thinking this was because I wanted to be done)!

Now Taper Time! :]

Marathon Monday.

Today was the 119th Boston Marathon! I love watching it on TV, someday I do hope to be there either running it or just cheering the runners on! My friend Sean ran it today and he did awesome - I am so proud of him. He finished in 3:05, which is an amazing time!

I loved the beginning of the men's elite when a normal everyday guy was leading the pack. It actually made me think of Joe, I think this is something he would and could do! Watching the women's elite was just as amazing - how fast they go, and they really look like they are not putting in much effort. It is all just really inspirational and amazing to me!

Awesome job to everyone who ran it - makes me even more excited for May 3rd!!

2 Weeks!

I am finally feeling like I am getting my strength back from not being able to run those 2 weeks. The beginning of the week was a real struggle! On Wednesday though I ran 10 miles (which for a weekday run, is a pretty long one), I had such a tough time with my breathing, and was really struggling. Eventually as the miles went on, the run did get a little bit easier.

That night my legs did not like me, and really started to hurt. I was supposed to run 8 that Thursday but figured it was better to listen to my body and rest. Friday was also a rest day - so I felt really "fresh" to start my run Saturday.

I was really looking forward to my run Saturday because I got to do it with one of my best friends Heidi! She is doing the Pittsburgh Half, and needed to get a good long run in but, originally only planned on maybe doing 8 of my 12. I love running with her because she keeps me motivated, we keep a great pace, and we both love to talk (so the miles fly by). We finished those 12 miles really strong - and now I think she feels confident about doing the Half now!

I still have two more long runs left - a 10 miler this week and 20/22 next Monday, then I get a very short taper time. Even though I didn't get to train like I would of liked, I do feel like I am going to finish this Marathon and that's all that really matters (especially for my first).

I hope everyone had a great weekend - I know I did, the weather here was beautiful (I even got a little bit burnt from yesterday's run). Tomorrow I plan on doing something special since it is the Boston Marathon - I have a few friends running it and couldn't be prouder of them!!

Review: RunnerBox (Subscription Service).

I received the RunnerBox a few weeks ago, which is a Subscription Box service for runners. When I first opened this box up I was in shock, it was overflowing and I got a full size drink that came with it too! My first impression was this Box has all other health/wellness/running boxes beat, especially when it came to the amount of brands, samples and variety.

Box was very full & even more goodies underneath!

This basically explains what RunnerBox is, which I took straight from their website:

"RunnerBox is a subscription based box full of products and discounts which have been hand-picked to enhance your active lifestyle. Runnerbox has everything from gels, chews, protein shakes/supplements, nutrition bars, energy boosters, healthy snacks, personal care, and other running accessories! Many products will be brand new to the market while others will be tried and true favorites. With so many new products claiming to be the next best thing – leave the trials and testing to us – we’ll search out the finest and send them right to your doorstep!"

I started trying out some of the products that came in the RunnerBox, which I do plan on having individual reviews of the products here and there within the next few weeks. I will list each of the products below with a picture.

Lasting Smiles.

E-hydrate Drink Mix.

Finally!

I ran my 6 miles tonight and felt great, not because the run went smoothly (far from it) but, I am finally getting back on track with my training. It has felt so good being able to run 3 days in a row!

I am not going to lie, or sugarcoat it any but, a couple times throughout this training I really had doubts that maybe this Marathon wouldn't happen. Its awful when things happen and you have absolutely no control over them - and thats what kept happening to me over and over again.

Joe sent me my final 19 day schedule and I am going to do the best I can at each of these runs! I want to cross that finish line feeling awesome accomplishing a Marathon. My schedule is definitely very different then most Marathon training plans, since I did miss a lot of runs (those being longer runs). I actually will be running 20 miles (which I am sure with Joe will turn into more than that :] ) the Monday before the Marathon and then for me that week will be my only taper.

Tomorrow is my 10 miler, which I plan on running outside (weather permitting) - then I am very excited because its my son's first Soccer practice (he is so excited to play).

Review: Flat Fanny (Etsy Shop).

A few weeks ago I received the Flat Fanny to try, and I was finally able to wear it during a couple runs! It is made through the Etsy Shop TheFlatFanny by Suzy Stensgaard, who is the shop owner. She will custom make these in any color, and any zipper color. I got surprised with a black one that had a hot pink zipper (which I loved, it's definitely my style).

Inside of the Flat Fanny.

This belt is one of the most comfortable running belts I have tried so far. Usually I have problems with them not fitting right, rubbing my skin or just plain uncomfortable. This one was none of those, and I plan on taking it with me on most of my runs now! I kept in mine my cell phone, chapstick and my car keys, and it didn't bounce or feel to heavy. I also like that she makes them based on your dress size, that way it fits you perfectly!

Wearing the Flat Fanny.

If you would like to check out the Flat Fanny Etsy Shop or purchase a Flat Fanny I will post the link down below. I definitely recommend checking this out if you are looking for a well made, comfortable running belt.

Keeping Life Interesting.

I am loving this warm weather we are having in Pennsylvania - its nice playing outside with the kids and running outside! It looks like the rest of the week is going to be in the 60's with some rain but, I will take it over the freezing temps.

Yesterday after the kids had their open house for school (they are so excited they will be right across the hall from each other) - I ran my 5 miles. It went really good, I was nervous because  I had so much pain in my knee after Thursday's run. The pain is thankfully gone so I am glad I took those two days off to rest it.

Today I got outside and ran my 6 miles (the last few were pretty slow). I had a great pace till about mile 4 then it went downhill (and no, not literally). I started overheating, which I should of dressed lighter and got so thirsty (I should of brought water). I ran back home an got there at about 5 miles, so I refueled with some water.

My son was begging me to take him with me for the last mile, so I figured why not. I was SO proud of him, he did awesome, we ran and walked and he did a whole mile in 15 minutes! He is only 5 and he kept right up with me, and said he had so much fun. I really want to do a 5k with him that is run/walk or a fun run like a Color Run. He really turned such an awful run into an amazing run - so glad I took him out for the last mile!

Tomorrow is another 6 mile day - as long as its not raining, I am getting out to run! Hopefully tomorrow's run is a little easier and I can get my breathing down (that is something I struggled with today, which could of been the heat). I got on my Pittsburgh Marathon app on my phone and it says 20 more days!!

Review: Ice3 (Cubed) Cooling Towelettes.

Today I am doing a review of the Ice3 (Cubed) Cooling Towelettes - which If you follow my blog, I received a sample of the Mint Scent in my StrideBox. Arena Sciences is the company who makes these towelettes and they sent me the rest of their scents to try out. I was super excited since this product really does work and their other scents are fruity ones (I wasn't a huge fan of the Mint scent since it was really strong). The other scents they have besides Mint are; Strawberry Burst, Soothing Coconut, Tangerine Dream and Orange Blossom.

What this product does is it cools you down during or after working out or running. All you have to do is rub it on your arms, legs, head, back and stomach. You can also put it in the fridge to get an even more intense cooling feel.

The verdict with the other scents are I really liked the Tangerine, Strawberry and Orange. I was looking forward to trying the Coconut (since I am a huge fan of Coconut scents), unfortunately it smelled more like rubbing alcohol, which was disappointing. Overall, the Mint scented one made me feel cooled down the most, even though the scent was a little overwhelming. My favorite was the Orange scented one, which I do plan on repurchasing. It will be nice in the summer after a long run to cool off quick!

If anyone is interested in purchasing any of these or just checking out Arena Sciences, I will post the link's down below.

Not Again!?!?!

I am excited to report that I ran my 4 miles yesterday - which is huge seeing I haven't ran in awhile and I was worried how I would feel. My legs felt amazing running, those 4 miles felt like nothing (and I really could of went longer).

It wasn't all amazing though - I had a reaction to my medicine (which I sweated out). I turned bright red and itched my legs, back and stomach to the point I had bleeding scratches, it wasn't a pretty sight. I also felt like my jaw wanted to shatter, the bouncing movement of running really made it hurt. Topping it off, I wore the wrong socks (my own fault) and got two nice size blisters on the back of my heels.

Although this sounds awful, I went to bed pretty positive that I was back on track! I woke up this morning with my knee aching and a sharp shooting pain that went straight up to my hip. I really have been taking it easy today and icing my knee. I am supposed to run 4 miles again tonight but I am not taking the chance. I plan on running my 4 miles tomorrow as long as my knee is feeling better.

I swear it has been one thing after another since January - I really could use a break!! I am hoping this is nothing and tomorrow I am feeling back to myself! I guess for tonight I can at least read about running...

Review: ChickyBands (Etsy Shop).

About a week or so ago I received a headband from an Etsy Shop called ChickyBands. The owner is Cathy Luna and she makes these super cute (and comfortable) headbands. If you are looking for a headband that will stay put through vigorous exercise or running, then this is the place to buy one! Cathy is also a runner and ran her first Marathon last year in San Antonio - which I found to be very awesome and inspiring!

Love the design I was sent!

I have had headbands in the past that were supposed to be non-slip and they slid right off, usually not long after I started running. ChickyBand Headbands were super comfortable and it did not budge at all during my run. The backing was made with a very soft velvet which was really unique - compared to most headbands I have.

Back is made of soft velvet!

Make sure to check out ChickyBands on Etsy and let her know that Jamie from Blonde Ponytail sent you! I will leave all her information to the ChickyBand Shop below!

Do I Have What It Takes?!

Hey Everyone! It has been quite awhile since I last updated this blog but then again its been awhile since I have actually been on a run. If you follow me on my Facebook you will know already that life has been throwing me issue after issue.

Two weeks ago it started out my son had the stomach bug, then by the end of the week I got it. I then had to have my wisdom tooth surgically cut out on March 30th, I really thought I could get back to running the next day...I was very wrong. The office said I had to wait at least a week before I could even think about running!

I have had nothing but problems since I had this procedure - my mouth got infected, extreme pain many days after, and then the medicine was actually making me sick; needless to say I really thought I was dying this past Monday - I have never been/felt that sick EVER!

I had went to my post op appointment this Tuesday and asked the surgeon why my mouth/jaw is still really painful, he said that this was a really tough extraction and that the tooth was very deep - well I guess this explains everything!

Now back to running and training and all that fun stuff - today I am planing on running 4 miles. I am actually really nervous to get back to running since I still am in pain, and the surgeon did warn me running could cause more swelling and even more pain. I have to train for this Marathon though it is only weeks away - I am freaking out, not going to lie!!

I had so many goals that I wanted to do at this Marathon in the beginning, but now my only goal is to just finish it. I am not going to lie I have so many emotions running through me lately, I am scared, nervous, worried about "can I really do this". I have been in training since November for this Marathon so I know there is no turning back now, and I don't want to even consider doing that! This is huge for me, and to actually do it will be one of the most amazing moments of my life!!!

Honestly right now I could use all the support I can get! I WILL do this! If everyone could throw me some prayers, good vibes, positive thoughts - whatever you do - I would appreciate that more than anything. I have a tough few weeks of training left and I need to push and give this all I got!!

I also want to mention that I will have reviews up soon of RunnerBox (Subscription Box) with a special code just for those who read my blog. Running Headband (which I have to say I have been wearing, just because it is so cute), Flat Fanny Pack which is made by a wonderful woman on Etsy and the ICE3 Cooling Cloths!

If there is a specific product that you would like to see me review - let me know in the comments or send me a message on Facebook!

Thanks for staying with me through this journey - and I hope everyone has a great day!

Quick Update & News!

Hey Everyone!! I figured I would let everyone know my surgery for my wisdom tooth went great. I am in a lot of pain and still pretty drowsy from the anesthesia, but overall feeling good. I am obviously not going to be able to do my run today (which I was hoping that I would at least try) - yeah it's definitely not going to happen. Tomorrow is a new day, and as long as I am feeling good, I will be running my 10.

I also have some exciting news, I have a company which I reviewed for my StrideBox who were kind enough to send me different samples to test! I am really excited about this company since it is up and coming, and I do feel they have a great product!

Also, a wonderful woman from Etsy who makes headbands for running sent me one to try and review for you guys too! I will be trying this out on my run tomorrow (since it is a fairly long one) and will have a review of both products by the end of the week!

I WILL Succeed!

Hard to believe it is almost April and even harder to believe there is only 34 days till the Marathon. When I first started getting a base back in November it seemed like I had forever to go, and now it really is almost here!

Honestly as much as I am looking forward to the Marathon, I am ready for it to be over - and to say "I ran a Marathon." I have been having a tough time with training lately, and haven't been able to do some of my runs. A lot of it is beyond my control - kids being sick, me being sick, I have been dealing with some personal issues lately; this has been taking a toll on me!

I missed my Half Marathon on Saturday which I was SO excited for. I ended up getting the stomach flu Thursday evening and I am just now feeling like myself. I am pretty sure I slept most of my weekend away! My daughter started getting sick today (again), she seems to be getting the stomach flu now too, and I learned on Friday her ear infection never went away. They put her on a stronger antibiotic so I pray that this works for her!

I ended up missing a ton of runs last weekend due to my son being sick - he was the first to get the stomach flu last week. Tomorrow I have to get my wisdom tooth out because it is causing me issues, unfortunately they have to put me out for it - so there goes another training run I will more than likely have to miss.

I really hope I can start posting more upbeat update's on my training! I am planning; as long as everything goes smoothly to really put everything (and some) into my training starting Tuesday. I was so proud of myself after I ran that 18 miler - I want to keep feeling that way.

Longest Run Ever - Running with Friends!

I have been getting pretty down on myself over missing some runs or having to shorten some. It can be tough training when you have kids sick, a small injury or being sick yourself. Not going to lie I have been a little behind, and this has been stressing me out ALOT!

Yesterday, Joe called me before my run and sounded a little nervous about my training. Just letting me know I need to get the miles in, long runs are important - that kind of stuff. I got off the phone with him feeling pretty down but knew I would try to make the 14 mile run I had that day a good one.

We started the run out and I was feeling good, got 6 miles in and seen Dodie who let us know we were more than welcome to run with her, Heather and James, so we took the offer. We got to run for them with awhile which was nice - they turned around when me and Joe were at 10 miles. We continued on and Joe asked me how I felt and would I like to try and get 16 in - I said sure.

On our way back to the cars I knew we were going to finish 17 miles in - I asked Joe lets just do 18 (figured might as well). The last mile was rough, my legs hurt so bad - I even said to Joe "why won't they just go numb already, so then I can be pain free". Joe is the best coach ever though he kept talking to me so I could keep my mind off everything. Right at the end of the 18 miles I sprinted to my car (obviously I had more in me - this I find crazy about running - one min. you have nothing left and you can just pull energy from somewhere the next). I have never been so proud of myself for doing 18 miles, that is the longest I have ever went, and though I was hurting I felt great at the same time.

Today my legs feel great, my backs the only thing hurting but I think that is because I had my hydration belt on. I am now AHEAD of what I needed to be at - I feel so great and that run really made me appreciate this training. Hard to believe that in a little over a month I will be standing at the starting line of the Pittsburgh Marathon.

Me and Joe after the 18 miler - I am still smiling so that's a good thing!

Running is a Pain in the Knee!

I really can't seem to catch a break - either the kids are sick, I am sick or I am having pain somewhere in my body associated with running. This week it was my left knee - and my son having a double ear infection and being sick..again!

Monday was my rest day so I got back to running on Tuesday - did my 5 miles and noticed when I was done, I had the worst pain in my left knee/leg. I was originally supposed to do 8 miles on Wednesday but took it easy and was lucky and got 4 out of it. Thursday when I woke up my pain was completely gone, it was really bizarre since I never had this happen before. I got 5 miles in that night and felt great, got 5 miles in yesterday and still continue to feel great! Sunday I am supposed to run 14 with Joe so *fingers crossed* the pain is completely gone and does not return.

Next Saturday is my first actual road race of the year - Cook's Forest Half Marathon. I am really looking forward to this just so I can see where I am at in my training. I am also looking forward to seeing my friends! Hard to believe we are going to be in April soon - the countdown to the Marathon is definitely on.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

What A Week Last Week Was!!!!

To many I have been missing in action - last week for me was awful!! Starting out the week my son had a rough day in school, which his crankiness attributed to the start of him getting sick...again! I believe he had the stomach bug but he ended up missing 2 days of school. He goes to school Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays - so he ended up only having one day in school last week. I also got a (news) bomb dropped on me from someone, so I had that on my mind a lot. I was in a really bad funk to which didn't help.

Thursday night my daughter started getting the stomach bug, and that night I truly wanted to cry - we got absolutely no sleep, I ended up changing her clothes about 4-5 times and our bed once. My son also got sick that night to, while I was trying to clean up my daughters mess! I also found out I need to get my wisdom tooth out and that I have 10 small cavities (I am sorry but I still don't understand how the hell that happened).

Friday (of course it was the 13th) anything that could go wrong, went wrong. I had to wash my pillow, since she got sick all over it. I put it in the dryer on delicate and it exploded everywhere!!! Just to add the pillow was down, so I had feathers all over the place. I also found out my daughter had a ruptured ear drum, so now she is on antibiotics and drops - which she is not a fan of.

I missed two 5 mile days last week due to the kids being sick but, what can you do. I love running but the kids definitely come first. I was able to get my 12 mile, long run in on Sunday. This run was amazing!!! I got to clear my mind, think a lot, be alone, it was just what I needed. I ran in some new areas of my city, and the my legs felt great till about the end - the hills I had to climb to get to my house didn't help.

On a good note though I got to go to one of my friends baby showers. It was a lot of fun, and I got to see a couple more of my friends there. I cannot wait for my friend to have her baby girl - I definitely need a baby fix!! :]

Today I found out that I have to get put under to get my wisdom tooth out. No biggie but, I have never been put under for a dental procedure, all my other extractions were with a local.

I am really hoping this week is better - I cannot endure another week like last week so soon. Sorry for such a negative post but, it feels better getting that all out. It also proves that running can sometimes fix bad days and bad weeks.

#StrideBox Review

Hey Everyone! I really wanted to do this post/review as a video but, with having two kids sick for over a week - it just didn't happen. I hope everyone enjoys this! I will leave link's to all of the products as well as to StrideBox.

If you do not know what StrideBox is, it is a Monthly Subscription Service that sends a box of 5-7 products that would be beneficial for runners and even people who workout. Each month the products are different, and vary from nutrition to accessories and apparel.

StrideBox was very generous and sent me their March box to try out and review. I received my box about a week ago, and was able to try out all the products. This way I could give everyone an honest review of what I thought of each product.

My first impression of the Stridebox was, I really liked the quote they had on the side of their box - which deals with running, of course. I also liked how they packaged the products, inside had green tissue paper (For St. Patricks Day) and the cute sticker to hold it all in.

I was really excited to try the products since a few of them were brands I never heard of - so here is my review of each one:

Bonk Breaker - Energy Chews in Orange Tangerine

I used these chews during one of my 8 mile runs; normally I don't do fuels during shorter runs like that but, I was curious on if the product worked. It says that you can use this before and during your run. The flavor itself wasn't bad, and didn't leave a weird aftertaste like some chews/fuels do. I did feel a small burst of energy from this, and I liked that it didn't upset my stomach. I would love to try other products from this brand, since I did have a positive outcome from these chews.

Untapped - Pure Vermont Maple Syrup

I was very excited to try this product since I love maple syrup and it can be used like a gel. I figured this would be a win-win. Personally, I did not like this, the taste wasn't awful but the texture wasn't the best. I did not feel like I got any energy from this, even though it felt like I just ate pure sugar. This was a no-go for me.

Health Warrior - Chia Bar in Mango

In my StrideBox I got the Mango Chia Bar and I went and bought the Coconut and Chocolate Peanut Butter to try as well. These can be used before and after a run or workout. I personally did not like the Mango flavor but, I really liked the Coconut flavor - it reminded me of a Girl Scout Samoa Cookie (minus the chocolate). I have not tried the Chocolate Peanut Butter yet, but will let everyone know what I think of it!

SOS - Hydration Drink Mix in Citrus

This product is one that you can use before or during activity. I used this while running on the treadmill, instead of my usual plain water. I really liked the taste, it wasn't super sour and had almost a light Lemonade taste. It is an electrolyte mix which is supposed to improve focus, stamina and physical performance while keeping you hydrated. I would buy this product again and would love to try other flavors. You can also use more that one packet depending on the activity you are doing.

Honey Stinger - Energy Bar in Peanut Butter N'Honey

This was my first time trying a Honey Stinger Product. I liked the flavor I was sent, it had a really strong Honey flavor (which I am a fan of Honey). This can be used before or after a workout/run for energy. It mentions on the StrideBox - Stride Guide that it includes 30% natural honey for an energy boost before training or racing. I did not notice an energy boost after eating this but, it was a quick after run snack for me, that tasted really good!

Arena Sciences - Ice(3) Cooling Towel

This was another product I was really excited to try out! I used this during my longer run and it does exactly what it promised. I felt cool instantly and it lasted for quite a long time. It looks just like a Baby Wipe/Makeup Wipe and you just rub it on your arms, legs, back, neck and forehead. I got the mint scent which was a bit strong. The only downfall was it left a sticky feeling on my hands, which did eventually go away, so if you can I would wash your hands after using this product.

StrideBox - Stretch Strap

Finally, the last product I received is the StrideBox Stretch Strap. This product came with a card to show you simple ways to use the Strap to target certain areas. This product does exactly what it promises and you get a good stretch from it! I plan on using this after my runs from now on!

Lastly, I just want to Thank StrideBox again for giving me this opportunity to try the StrideBox and to show you guys these products. This is a great Subscription Box - I really recommend everyone to at least try, I had a lot of fun trying out these products and even found some new favorites. 55 Days Until Pittsburgh & A Sneak Peek!

I hope everyone had a great weekend, I know I did even though it was slightly hectic at times. My son had a great Birthday and had so much fun at his pool party with family & friends. It felt great getting in the hot tub, I really need to invest in one of those! ;]

Saturday is normally my long run day but, we switched it up due to my sons party - so it was today. Me and Joe ran our 10 miles and the weather was great besides the headwinds on the way back. It felt great being able to run outside, the only downfall was the puddles everywhere - my feet were soaked only a mile in. My legs started to get tired around mile 8, which I expected since I haven't done this distance for awhile (due to being sick). I am hoping to get some nice days this week so I can for once get outside to run!

10 Miles Done :]

I will be working on something different for the blog within the next couple days - here is a sneak peek...

Big Day Tomorrow & Finally Feeling Like Myself!

I am finally feeling back to myself - runs are easier, and my breathing is getting better. Hard to believe a case of Bronchitis set me back a week of running!

Yesterday, I did 4 miles on the treadmill and was finally able to breathe after I got off. Today I did 5 miles and it was pretty easy, went quick and I felt great/like I could of ran more once I was done. Sunday is my long run day this week and I will be doing between 8 or 10, it just depends on how I am feeling. I will probably post again either Sunday night or Monday - this weekend is going to be pretty busy.

Tomorrow is a big day for my family, my son is turning 5. We are having a pool party for him, he is so excited to spend the day with family and friends. These past 5 years have flew on by - honestly it feels like I was just in the hospital holding him for the first time. I cannot wait to watch him grow and learn - he is VERY excited about Kindergarten, and he is playing Soccer for the first time this year too! I love you so much Mark!!! :]

Have a Great Weekend!

Getting Back on Track!

After a full week I am finally back at running! Today was an easy run, I only had to do 3 miles. It felt great running again, and it didn't take long for my body to adjust. I know sometimes if I haven't ran in awhile its hard to get my breathing and stride right. The only downfall to today's run was I could tell I had heaviness in my chest. I plan on doing the next couple runs inside on my treadmill till I am 100 percent feeling better. This weeks schedule is pretty easy anyways to get back on track - especially since I have been so sick.

I also found out something pretty exciting today, that I will be showing on my blog in the next couple of weeks! :]

Quick Update.

I am going through running withdrawal - I cannot wait till I am feeling better! If you keep up with my blog you know I have been dealing with a bad cold for the past week or so - well I finally gave in yesterday and went to the Doctor. I found out I have Bronchitis and a Sinus Infection - no wonder I was getting out of breath so easily. Hopefully I am on the up now - and would like to start running tomorrow (depending on how I feel). I do feel this is a setback but I will come back from it!

Awful Week!!

It is finally March, training will start to get more intense from here. Hopefully the weather starts to change and we start having Spring like temperatures/weather. I am excited for speed training and longer runs! March has came in like a lion so far - more snow! :[

If you don't know I have been sick with a pretty nasty cold since last weekend - I missed out on a ton of running this week/weekend. I ran my 5 miles Monday - felt okay, ran 8 on Tuesday and it was AWFUL! I was dizzy most of the run, had to take breaks but, pushed myself and finished. That night I had no energy and started getting even more sick.

I was supposed to run 6 miles on Wednesday but me and Joe decided it would be better to rest that day and hopefully Thursday I would be up for my 3 miler. Thursday came and there was no way I was even going to be able to do my 3 - I felt terrible. I figured all this rest would benefit me and I would be ready for the Spring Thaw 20 miler Saturday. Friday whatever I had moved to my chest and I was out, there was absolutely no way I was going to be able to do 20 miles - I was bummed!

I have been looking forward to the Spring Thaw since Joe told me about it back in January. I felt like I let him down by not being able to go, and that I let a friend down I was supposed to take with me. I have been pretty down all weekend - I really would of loved to see what I could of done at that run and it would of felt great to have a 20 miler done this early in training.

Today I woke up feeling better then I have - I really want to get back on track with my running this week. I am actually looking forward to a good run since I had to miss so much. Looking at my weekly milage bummed me out - 13 for the week and normally I am at 45.

Sorry this post is mostly depressing - next week will be better!

Another Weekend of Snow & Cancelled Plans.

I am still pretty bummed me and Joe weren't able to do the 18 miles Friday - I really feel unprepared for my 20 miler on the 28th. I guess I just need to think positive that I did 16, I can do 4 more miles - I got this! I am one to worry though and normally it is unnecessary. Anyone have any tips for me to get through the 20 miler?

Friday though I did get my 8 miles done that me and Joe had decided that I should do instead. Of course it was on the treadmill, I cannot wait till the day I can get a full week of runs done outside! :]

Saturday, I was all excited because I planned to run with my friend Heidi (she was going to run 5 of the 10 with me). I haven't ran forever with her, so I was really looking forward to it. Of course, it started snowing pretty hard that morning and didn't stop, so our plans were cancelled. I did 10 miles on the treadmill and it was pretty awful - especially after 8 miles. I knew I needed to get this 10 done and there was no way I was running in another blizzard.

I am ready for winter to be over - I know many of you feel the same way as I do. Hopefully soon the snow will start melting and we will get some warm days in the mix!

Change of Plans.

Tomorrow I was supposed to run 18 miles, figured it would make me feel more prepared for the 20 miler next Saturday. It is supposed to be freezing tomorrow, we have a windchill advisory tomorrow till the afternoon. Now I am running 8 miles tomorrow on the treadmill and 10 miles outside Saturday and will now have Sunday off. I am really getting tired of the cold - 29 days till the first day of Spring! :]
